ResultsOLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine -- Endicott College, Western New England University, Nichols College, and Wentworth Institute of Technology took the top four spots at the Championship Qualifier for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), which was played Thursday (Sep. 18) at Dunegrass Golf Club. With the result, each earns a place in the finals this coming April. The University of New England men's golf team finished in the fifth position.
Led by medalist Austin Teal with a 1-over-par round of 73, Endicott posted a team total of 308 and will serve as the host of the two-day finals event. Behind a 74 from Matt Fontaine, Western New England finished at 322 in second, and a 74 from Colin Whitney of Nichols paced the Bison to third with 325.
It came down to the final players from Wentworth and UNE to determine the fourth qualifying team, and the last group from each knocked two strokes off their respective team scores. The Leopards got the edge in the closing tally with 331, and the Nor'easters ended up with 332.

Jared Melman fired an 82 to pace the hosts. Sophomores
Ryan Mahoney and
Evan Ryan both carded rounds of 83, while junior
Paul Butkevich and sophomore
Sam Kinasewich each logged a score of 84.
UNE will next compete at the Husson University Invitational on Saturday (10 a.m.) at Penobscot Valley Country Club.
