BEVERLY, Mass. -- The Endicott College Gulls scored the final two goals of the first half to take the lead for good on their way to a 14-9 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory over University of New England in women's lacrosse action Thursday afternoon (March 27) at Endicott Stadium.
The eight-time defending conference champion Gulls improve to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Nor'easters slip to 5-3 overall and 0-1 in CCC action.
Meghan Lennon scored all four of her goals before halftime to help lead the Gulls. Callie Murphy and Emily Whitney finished with three goals apiece, while Ellie Clayman notched a pair of markers.
For UNE, senior
Hannah Tavella scored a game-high five goals to become the Nor'easters' career leader in points, eclipsing the record of 249 previously held by Ashley MacDonald '08. Tavella now has 253 points (209 goals, 44 assists).

Jocelyn Davee each had a goal to complete UNE's scoring output.
With the score tied 7-7 in the closing stages of the opening half, Lennon tallied back-to-back goals in the final 1:23 to give the Gulls a 9-7 lead heading into intermission.
Tavella got UNE back within one (9-8) 5:32 into the second frame, then Kirsten Thor, Whitney and Murphy accounted for three consecutive goals to give Endicott some breathing room at 12-8.
Hill cut Big Blue's deficit to three (12-9) with 7:21 remaining, but the Gulls would score twice in the final two minutes to secure the win.
Lennon also added a team-high five ground balls for Endicott, which received 10 saves from winning goalkeeper Ryan Socolow.
Courtney Kendall was solid in goal for the Nor'easters, recording 15 stops.
Hannah Warren had a strong all-around match with five ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers.
Next up for UNE is a CCC road match Saturday (March 29) versus Salve Regina University, which is slated to start at noon at Gaudet Middle School in Middletown, R.I.
