Box Score

REISTERSTOWN, Md. -- For the second time in as many days, the University of New England women's ice hockey team recorded a 4-2 victory over Stevenson University at the Reisterstown Sportsplex on Sunday (Feb. 16).

The Nor'easters (8-11-4) got scores from four different players to complete the weekend sweep, as UNE earned the same result on Saturday evening.

Contrary to the previous day, however, Big Blue never trailed in the match, striking first just 4:19 into the contest on a goal by senior Jenni Poulin. First-years Gabriella Moscato and Abby Kinens assisted on the play.

After Megan Alexander tied things for Stevenson midway through the opening period, UNE first-year Amy Curry lit the lamp with five seconds left in the 1st on the power play to give the visitors a 2-1 lead. Classmate Emily Corrales and Poulin set up the go-ahead tally.

The Nor'easters controlled the 2nd period, with a 17-8 advantage in shots and the only two goals in the frame. First-year Gabby Crugnale made it 3-1 on the power play at 7:37 off a feed from classmate Cassndra Connolly. Two minutes later, it was Corrales from Connolly to establish a 4-1 edge.

Alexander scored again in the 3rd to provide the final margin, with Molly O'Neil registering her second assist of the day.

Sophomore Samantha Scobee turned away 25 shots for the win in goal for UNE. Big Blue finishes the year next weekend with a pair of games at Buffalo State College.

For the Mustangs, who end the season with a record of 8-16-1, Sarah Modzelewski and Mackenzie Bruch combined for 27 saves.
