BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Senior Alex Gabriels posted three individual victories and shared in a relay win to help the University of New England women's swimming team to a 177-84 triumph over Elms College on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 1) at the Campus Center Pool.

The Nor'easters (8-4) have now defeated the Blazers in all four meetings between the programs.

Gabriels claimed the 50- and 100-yard backstroke events with times of 32.03 and 1:08.75, before clocking a 1:07.31 to capture the 100 individual medley.

UNE junior Emily Zeimetz added wins in the 50 freestyle (27.33) and 50 butterfly (28.77). Classmate Kelly Dolyak finished first in the 1,650 freestyle (19:20.08), and sophomores Sara DeAngelo and Rachael Romain tallied two more victories for the Nor'easters. DeAngelo's 1:04.92 topped the list in the 100 butterfly, while Romain posted a 36.24 in the 50 breaststroke to edge Elms first-year Brianna Sylvester by less than one second.

Sylvester won an event of her own for the Blazers (5-8), recording a 1:22.30 to take the 100 breaststroke.

Elms was paced by senior Devon DeGrazia, who finished with a trio of race wins in freestyle events. She logged times of 57.38 (100 free), 2:02.53 (200 free), and 5:27.82 (500 free) on the way to equaling Gabriels' total.

Both squads are off for two weeks until the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships, which will be held at the University of Rode Island on February 14-16.
