Evan Ryan, the University of New England scored 327 in Round 2 at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship and finished with a share of 11th place in the 22-team field completing the event Monday (Oct. 27) at the Captains Course (Port).
Rhode Island College surged to the top of the team leaderboard on day two with a total of 299, ending at 615 for a 14-stroke win over Babson College (629: 319-310). Western New England University (630) advanced three spots with a Monday 309 to claim 3rd place.
Husson (637), Elms (642), Nichols (644), Endicott (645), UMass Dartmouth (647), Salem State (649), and Tufts (649) wound up ahead of the Nor'easters and Castleton State at 653.
Endicott's Austin Teal held the individual lead after day one, and closed the tournament in the same position, following up an opening 74 with a 1-over-par 73 for a two-stroke cushion at 147.
Ryan bettered his Sunday score by one to post 161 and share 29th place individually. Junior
Paul Butkevich (164) turned in another round of 82 on Monday, as did first-year
Mike Richard (171). Sophomores
Ryan Mahoney and
Sam Kinasewich went for 83 and 84, respectively, on day two, and both scored 165 over the 36-holes.Â
