MANCHESTER, Maine -- The University of New England men's golf team took fourth place out of the six competing teams on Thursday (Oct. 2) at the Maine Maritime Academy Invitational, which was played at the par-70 Augusta Country Club.

The host Mariners captured the team title with a score of 329. UMaine Presque Isle finished second at 332, and the University of Southern Maine placed third at 335. Big Blue (347), Bates College (352), and UMaine Farmington (355) rounded out the field.

Leading the scoring for the Nor'easters was junior Paul Butkevich and first-year Mike Richard, each with rounds of 82. First-year Ben McCollough carded an 85, and junior Dan Nadeau closed the team effort with a 96.

Medalist honors went to Tom Murray of USM with a total of 77.

On Saturday, UNE heads for Waterville Country Club to participate in the Colby Classic, a modified-format event.
