Meet ResultsSTANDISH, Maine -- A split University of New England squad matched scores with the host and Emmanuel College to finish in a three-way tie at the 2014 Runnin' Monks Invitational hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
The Nor'easters, who had some members of their team competing at the James Earley Invitational, matched St. Joe's and Emmanuel with a team score of 67. The NCAA Rule Book fails to provide a clear procedure to break three-way ties.
UNE had all of its scoring runners in the Top 20, led by
Sean Hanrahan, who finished 11th with an eight-kilometer time of 30:09.
Taylor Vogt was the second member of the Big Blue contingent to cross the finish line. He placed 13th at 30:10.
Matt O'Brien (30:35),
Peter Swan (30:50) and
Michael Lambrecht (30:54) finished 15th, 16th and 17th, respectively for the Nor'easters.
Emmanuel's Sean Colford topped Robbie Hollis of University of Maine Farmington by 17 seconds to win the race, circling the course in a time of 28:23.
UNE's entire team will be back together next Saturday for the State of Maine Championship in Farmington.
