DUDLEY, Mass. -- Senior Erin Bibber and sophomore Nicole Matarozzo each scored twice as the University of New England defeated Nichols College by a 7-0 score on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 11) in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey action at Vendetti Field.

The Nor'easters (8-5, 6-1 CCC) have now won the last five meetings with the Bison (2-11, 0-7 CCC) by a combined 25-3 margin.

Bibber and senior Kayla Lambert put the visitors on the board in the 1st half. In the 2nd period, Bibber struck with just 53 seconds elapsed to make it 3-0. Senior Hannah Warren, who assisted on Lambert's goal, then scored in the 43rd minute, before Matarozzo added her pair (48th and 53rd) and first-year Olivia Madore capped the day in the 65th minute.

UNE finished with a 30-4 advantage in shots (21-3 on-goal) and 9-0 in penalty corners.

Sophomore Holly Smith saved the three Bison tries that came her way for a third shutout of the season.

Katherine Cotton recorded 12 stops in more than 52 minutes of relief action between the pipes for Nichols.

Big Blue faces Gordon College on Wednesday (6 p.m.) in Biddeford.
