BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England came up with a win and a loss versus Gordon College and Colby-Sawyer College in a college women's swimming meet Saturday afternoon (Jan. 25) at the Campus Center. UNE downed Gordon, 181-75, and fell to Colby-Sawyer, 144-117.
Junior
Kelly Dolyak and sophomore
Sara DeAngelo each recorded an individual win and swam a leg in the Nor'easters' triumphant 400-yard freestyle relay entry to pace UNE. Dolyak took the 500-yard free with a time of 5:40.03, and DeAngelo was first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.67). They teamed with junior
Emily Zeimetz and sophomore
Rachael Romain to record a time of 3:57.76 to take the 400 freestyle relay.
Colby-Sawyer's sweep came thanks in large part to junior Krystyna Estrada and sophomore Elaine Miller. Each won three races and teamed with senior Erin Dunican and sophomore Emma Nagle to place first in the 200-yard medley relay. Estrada won the 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle (pool record 2:03.18) and 100-yard individual medley, while Miller bested all competitors in the 50-yard free, 50-yard backstroke and 200-yard backstroke. Nagle supported their efforts with a pair of wins (50 fly, 100 fly).
Sophomore Nicole St. Martin won a race for Gordon, placing first in the 1,650-freestyle.
The Nor'easters (7-4) will compete in their final home meet of the season next Saturday (Feb. 1) when they host Elms College on Senior Day at 1 p.m.
