Meet Results

LEWISTON, Maine -- The University of New England Nor'easters came away with a win and a loss in a women's swimming tri-meet hosted by Bates College at Tarbell Pool on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 11). UNE topped Norwich University (216-9) and fell to the host Bobcats (261-43).

Sophomores Rachael Romain and junior Kelly Dolyak had strong showings for the Nor'easters. Romain finished third in both the 50-yard breaststroke (35.83) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.79), while Dolyak was third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:47.41) and fourth in the 200-yard free (2:09.28).

UNE first-year Eleni Bautz was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.17) and fifth in the 50-yard free (27.04), and senior co-captain Alex Gabriels posted a pair of fifth-place finishes (50-yard backstroke, 100-yard backstroke). Sophomore Sara DeAngelo was the other Nor'easter to record a Top 5 finish at the meet, placing fourth in the 100-yard butterfly.

The Nor'easters return to the pool next Saturday (Jan. 18) when they head to Bristol, R.I. to compete with Roger Williams University in a meet starting at 1 p.m.
