WENHAM, Mass. -- The University of New England men's cross country team had four runners in the Top 20 en route to a second-place finish at the 42nd Annual Pop Crowell Invitational held Saturday (Sept. 21) on the campus of Gordon College.

Georgia College (25 points) had an impressive performance to distance itself from the 14-team field. UNE had an aggregate score of 68 to finish as runners-up. Emmanuel College (92), Norwich University (123) and the host Fighting Scots (171) were next.

Sophomore CJ Vallie (6th - 28:30) and junior Shane Murphy (9th - 29:09) had Top 10 peformances for Big Blue. Senior DJ Raboin (14th - 29:38), first-year Paul Mangiafico (18th - 29:54) and senior Geoff Wahome (21st - 30:00) also scored for UNE.

James Ryden of Georgia College was the first finisher, circling the 8,000 meter course in a time of 28:08.

UNE is back in action next Saturday at the Elms Colleg Blazer Invitational.
