Nor'easters impressive at Saint Joseph's Duel

STANDISH, Maine -- The University of New England men's cross country team got the 2013 season off in style with a dominant performance at the Saint Joseph's College Duel, totaling 19 points to breeze past the host Monks, who compiled a team score of 39.

UNE sophomore CJ Vallie posted a six-kilometer time of 21:30 to claim the individual title. After St. Joe's slid a runner into the second slot, the Nor'easters had the next four runners cross the finish line. Junior Peter LePage (3rd--21:42), first-year Paul Mangiafico (4th--22:16), junior Shane Murphy (5th--22:20) and senior Nate DiMartino (6th--22:25) completed Big Blue's list of scoring runners.

The Nor'easters are off for a week before hosting the UNE Invitational on Saturday, Sep. 14 at Rotary Park in Biddeford. The gun for the men's race will go at 11:30 a.m.
