BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University scored the only three goals of the second half to snap a 5-5 tie and remain undefeated with an 8-5 non-conference women's lacrosse win over the University of New England Tuesday (April 2) evening under the lights at Swenson Field.
Taylor Clancy and Jill Caramello each scored a pair of goals to account for half of the Bears' output. Shelby Farland, Riley Cachelin, Lauren Geary and Melanie Appleman added a goal apiece for Bridgewater State (7-0).
Gina Newsome had a hand in all five goals for UNE, scoring three times and assisting on Big Blue's other two tallies.
Rachel Schwaner and
Macki Hill also found the net for the Nor'easters (3-5).
After the two teams played to a 5-5 stalemate in the first half, neither team was able to find the cage in the opening 10 minutes of the second frame. The Bears then exploded for three goals over a stretch of 2:53 for the only offense in the half. Cachelin, Geary and Clancy each had a marker during the run.
Geary was all over the field for Bridgewater State, grabbing eight draw controls and scooping up seven ground balls. Clancy added five grounders.

Gina Iannazzi contributed six ground balls and two caused turnovers, while
Johanna Currier added three ground balls and two draw controls.
Chandler Ross has seven saves in goal for Bridgewater State to register the victory.
Courtney Kendall stopped 12 shots for the Nor'easters, including 10 in the first half.
The Nor'easters return to action Saturday when they head to Nichols College for a CCC match starting at noon.
