BOSTON -- Jen Collins and Miriam Swisher each captured three events to lead Simmons College to a 195-80 triumph against the University of New England in women's swimming action Friday evening (Nov. 8) at the Holmes Sports Center

The pair accounted for more than half of the individual wins for the Sharks (4-0). Collins took two freestyle races (200, 500) as well as the 200-yard IM, while Swisher touched the wall first in the 50 backstroke, 100 free, and 50 butterfly.

Sophomore Sara DeAngelo claimed the lone event victory for the Nor'easters (2-1), cruising to a comfortable margin with a 2:24.50 in the 200 fly. DeAngelo (2:42.66) finished second by 0.86 to Hannah Plourde of Simmons in the 200 breaststroke, and also took second to Collins in the 200 IM.

UNE senior Alex Gabriels was edged in the closest contest of the night (200 back - 2:24.73), as the Sharks' Chloe Davis was a mere 0.07 seconds faster. Earlier in the meet, Gabriels (31.35) wound up second to Swisher in the 50 back.

Junior Emily Zeimetz recorded a second-place showing in the 50 fly (28.72) by just 0.22 seconds behind Swisher. She was also just off the pace in the 50 free (26.98), trailing only Shylee Stewart of Simmons.

Collins narrowly bested Big Blue junior Kelly Dolyak in the longer freestyle events. Dolyak posted times of 2:05.99 (200 free) and 5:38.37 (500 free) to gain the Nor'easters eight points in the final total.

UNE has eight days off before returning to the pool next Saturday (Nov. 16) at Husson University (1 p.m.).
