NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The University of New England women's swimming team won its second dual meet in as many outings on Saturday (Nov. 2), topping the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth by a 162-126 margin at the Tripp Athletic Center Natatorium.

Big Blue received three wins out of sophomore Rachael Romain and two more from junior Kelly Dolyak to improve to 2-0 on the young season.

Romain swam to victory in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.41), 200 breast (2:43.86), and the 100 individual medley (1:09.83). Dolyak cruised to first place in the 1,000 freestyle (11:49.62) by almost one full minute, and then took the 500 free in 5:44.22.

Sophomore Sara DeAngelo traded decisions with Katelyn Kidney of UMass Dartmouth in a pair of butterfly races. DeAngelo's 1:05.15 in the 100 fly touched the wall first by a little less than one second, while Kidney was 0.42 seconds faster in the 200 fly.

Kidney also captured the closest event of the day (100 free) over UNE junior Emily Zeimetz, as a mere 0.01 separated the top two spots. Zeimetz chalked up a win of her own earlier in the meet, taking the 50 free (27.23) by just 0.04 seconds over Kaya Flanagan of UMD, who won a pair of events for the hosts.

First-year Eleni Bautz registered an eighth individual event victory for the Nor'easters in the 200 free (2:16.30).

UNE heads to Simmons College this coming Friday.
