~Women's Basketball, 2012-13 (18-0)
~Women's Soccer, 2011 (8-0-1) & 1999 (11-0-1) |
Winners of seven straight, the Nor'easters (14-5, 12-0 CCC) will enter the CCC Championship on Wednesday (4 p.m.) as the No. 1 seed, hosting fourth-seeded Nichols College in the semifinal round.
Clark got things going just 2:17 into the match, converted a feed from Marshall. The 1-0 margin was still in place at halftime, as the Big Blue defense completely shut down the Hawks, who did not register a shot or a penalty corner in the opening 35 minutes.
Moments after the 2nd period began, Clark struck again, this time off a pass from senior
Hannah Tavella.
Roger Williams did manage to break up the shutout in the 47th minute, when Hailey Wolfe caromed a shot off a UNE defender and into the cage.
But the Nor'easters continued to control play, and Marshall from Tavella padded the lead in the 61st minute.
First-year
Holly Smith earned the victory in goal for Big Blue, which finished with a 21-2 advantage in shots and 19-0 cushion in corners.
Melora Lavoie posted 12 saves for the Hawks, who wrap up their inaugural season with an overall mark of 5-14 (0-12 CCC).
