Vallie paces UNE to runner-up showing at Emmanuel

BOSTON -- Sophomore CJ Vallie finished just eight seconds off the top mark to lead the University of New England men's cross country team in a 2nd-place showing out of 16 squads at the Emmanuel College Invitational on Friday (Oct. 18). Babson College fared the best on the 8,000 meter course at Franklin Park, totaling a score of 18.

In addition to individual champion Ian MacLean, who posted a time of 26:56, the Beavers received points from runners taking second, third, fifth, and seventh.

The Nor'easters (82) beat out Wheaton College (91), the host Saints (124), and Norwich University (138) in the standings of the top 5 institutions.

After Vallie (27:04 - 4th), junior Shane Murphy crossed the line for UNE with a time of 27:39 (11th). Classmate Peter LePage (28:11), senior DJ Raboin (28:21), and first-year Paul Mangiafico (28:24) completed the scoring for Big Blue.

Following a weekend off, the Nor'easters return to action on November 2 (1 p.m.) when they host the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship at Rotary Park.
