Big Blue takes 3rd place at UNE Invitational

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine -- Led by a 76 from first-year Sam Kinasewich, the University of New England men's golf team finished in 3rd out of the six competing squads at the UNE Invitational on Tuesday (Oct. 1) at Cape Arundel Golf Club. Endicott College totaled a 305 to claim the title for the fifth consecutive season.

After the Gulls, the University of Southern Maine took second place (311). With the Nor'easters at 322, Maine Maritime Academy (333), Roger Williams University (339), and Saint Joseph's College (350) rounded out the field.

Endicott's Austin Teal was the individual medalist, carding a 3-over-par round of 72 for a three-stroke victory.

In addition to Kinasewich's 76, UNE received a 77 from sophomore Paul Butkevich and 79 from senior Andy Emery. Coming in with scores of 90 were first-year Ryan Mahoney and senior Tyler Moody.

Big Blue has a busy weekend ahead, with three tournaments between Friday and Monday. The Nor'easters start things off with the Maine Maritime Invitational on Friday at Augusta Country Club.
