Aug. 19 proclaimed Coach Beaudry Day in Biddeford

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Mayor Alan Casavant announced yesterday (Aug. 15) that Aug. 19 will forever be known as Coach Beaudry Day in Biddeford. Beaudry, who celebrates his birthday Aug. 19, was the University of New England's inaugural inductee into UNE's Athletics Hall of Fame.

A former coach and administrator at St. Francis College, Beaudry was enshrined into UNE's Hall of Fame in 2005. Beaudry served as Director of Athletics at St. Francis for 21 years while also coaching baseball, men's basketball, men's soccer, cross country and golf. In addition to his induction into UNE's Hall of Fame, he has been honored by the New England Basketball Hall of Fame and the Maine Sports Legends Hall of Honors.

The UNE Campus Center Gymnasium was named in honor of Beaudry in December of 2011. More than 100 former student-athletes, coaches, alumni and friends attended the dedication ceremony.

Today, Beaudry attends numerous UNE athletics events and is a member of the University's BodyWise Program.
