BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Junior Tess Petesch (Rockville, Md.) scored four times and sophomore Katie Griffin (Duxbury, Mass.) added three to help lead the 10th-ranked Colby College Mules to a 16-5 non-conference victory over the University of New England in women's lacrosse action Sunday afternoon at the Big Blue Turf.
After Colby sophomore Sarah Lux (Manlius, N.Y.) opened the game with a goal 1:15 in, and UNE sophomore
Hannah Tavella (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) converted a breakaway feed from junior
Emily Lodge (Lyman, Maine) at the 26:00 mark, Lux gave the visitors the lead for good with just over eight minutes gone.
The Mules would go on to gain an 8-1 cushion later in the first half, and the difference was eight (10-2) at the break. Colby took 11 more shots than UNE in the frame (18-7) -- a margin that held up at the end as well (28-17).
Senior Lane McVey (Bronxville, N.Y.) notched a team-high five points for Colby (2-0), coming on two goals and three assists. Sophomore Katharine Eddy (Cheshire, Conn.) also scored twice.

Colby sophomore Michelle Burt (Woodbridge, Conn.) made six saves for the visitors, who host the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday (4:30 p.m.).
