Doucette, Paciello power Ravens past Nor'easters

Box Score

RINDGE, N.H. -- Colleen Doucette and Francesca Paciello each scored a pair of goals to help give the Franklin Pierce University women's ice hockey team a 5-2 win over the University of New England in a non-league game played Saturday (Dec. 1) afternoon at Ritchie Arena.

The win was the second for the Ravens over the Nor'easters in as many days, as they improved their overall mark to 3-5. UNE now stands at 0-5 versus varsity competition.

UNE junior Jenni Poulin accounted for the lone goal of the first period, scoring from Lauryn Huck 6:20 into the frame.

Franklin Pierce would respond with the first three tallies of the second to seize control of the contest. Doucette got Franklin Pierce on the scoreboard with a power-play goal at 1:35, then Karsyn Baker gave the Ravens the lead for good six minutes later with another UNE player in the box. Paciello would extend the advantage to 3-1 at the 11:57 mark.

Poulin cut the Nor'easters' deficit in half with four minutes remaining in the second, converting on the power play from Huck. Shannon Reynolds was credited with a secondary assist on the play.

The Ravens received third-period goals from Doucette and Paciello to ice the contest. Doucette converted FPU's third power-play marker of the contest at the 11:10 mark, and Paciello completed the scoring 45 seconds later.

Franklin Pierce held a 38-17 cushion in shots on goal, with Amelea Gray making 15 stops to record the win. The Ravens took a total of nine penalties, but were able to offset that by converting three extra-skater situations of their own.

Courtney Kendall had 33 saves for the Nor'easters, who host Stevenson University this Saturday and Sunday (Dec. 8-9) to wind down first-semester play.
