BOSTON -- Travis Daniel ripped-home a shot from just inside the left circle with 1:28 left in overtime to give the University of Massachusetts Boston a 4-3 win over the University of New England men's ice hockey squad in an ECAC East League contest Friday evening (Nov. 30) at the Clark Athletic Center.

The Beacons gained possession deep in the offensive zone with Max Reavis, who pushed it to Mike DeGrazia in the right circle. DeGrazia then slipped a quick pass across the slot to Daniel to put in the winner, and his second goal of the game.

Tim Richter also tallied a pair of scores for UMass Boston (6-2-1, 2-2-1 ECAC East), while DeGrazia finished with three assists and Reavis two more.

After UNE (2-7-0, 1-5-0 ECAC East) struck less than two minutes into the match, as sophomore Nick Kolb (Virginia Beach, Va.) converted a feed from classmate Chris Glover (McFarland, Wisc.), the Beacons answered with two goals -- just 1:48 apart -- to move in front before the midway point of the initial period.

The Nor'easters continued to face a one-goal deficit into the 2nd frame, but drew even with 42 seconds gone in the stanza behind the effort of junior Sean Sullivan (Worcester, Mass.). First-year Tom Gildersleeve (New Harbor, Maine) and senior Tyler Fleurent (Biddeford, Maine) registered assists on the play.

However, Richter restored the UMB advantage (3-2) late in the middle period.

Despite being out-shot 10-4 in the 3rd session, Big Blue notched the lone marker of the 20 minutes to pull level and force an extra period. First-year Ryan Quinn (Burlington, Mass.) found the back of the net for the fourth time in as many games with 1:51 elapsed -- assists going to senior captain Brent Bourgeois (New Haven, Vt.) and Glover.

As the final shot of the game provided the Beacons with a 25-24 edge for the game, both netminders -- UMB's Zach Andrews and UNE junior Ian Edwards (Linden, Mich.) -- posted 21 saves.

UMass Boston entertains the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, while the Nor'easters head to Babson College for a 4 p.m. league date.
