AMHERST, Mass. -- The UMass club women's ice hockey team scored four unanswered goals to erase a 2-1 deficit and take a 5-2 victory over the University of New England Saturday (Nov. 3) evening on the campus of the University of Massachusetts.
First-year
Marissa Clifford-Biederman (Lee, N.H.) got UNE on the board first, converting a feed from classmate
Kayleigh Trepanier (Lebanon, Maine).
After UMass tallied later in the first, junior
Jenni Poulin (Pembroke, N.H.) gave Big Blue a 2-1 advantage in the second frame. Clifford-Biederman set-up Poulin's marker.
The Minutewomen responded by reeling off four straight goals -- including an empty-net tally in the closing stages -- to put the game away.
First-year goaltender
Samantha Scobee (Minnetrista, Minn.) recorded 54 saves for the Nor'easters, who play their first varsity opponent next Saturday (Nov. 10) when they host Nichols College at 3 p.m. at the Harold Alfond Forum.
