BIDDEFORD, Maine -- First-year Michaela Faia (Malden, Mass.) had two goals and one assist to lead the Franklin Pierce University Ravens to a 6-1 victory over the University of New England in a women's ice hockey game played Friday (Nov. 16) afternoon at the Harold Alfond Forum.
The win was the first in the history of the program for the Ravens, who now stand at 1-4. UNE falls to 0-2 versus varsity competition on the season.
Faia got Franklin Pierce on the scoreboard midway thru the first period, drilling a wrist-shot inside the left post to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
The Ravens would strike two more times before the close of the frame. First-year Bryanna Harron (Woburn, Mass.) knocked home a rebound two minutes after Faia's goal, then Faia went top shelf with less than a minute to play to give FPU a 3-0 lead heading into first intermission.

Jenni Poulin (Pembroke, N.H.) weaved her way several Franklin Pierce defenders and lifted a wrist-shot just under the crossbar for the short-handed tally.
The Ravens got that goal back just before the close of the second when first-year Karsyn Baker (Detroit, Mich.) poked home the puck from close range.
Franklin Pierce would tack on two more scores in the third. First-year Sarah Sheils (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored short-handed at 15:44, before classmate Morgan Cahill (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) converted a rebound three minutes later with the Ravens on the power play.
Sheils added three assists for the winners, who outshot UNE by a 39-19 margin. Rookie goaltender Amelea Gray (Bozeman, Mont.) had 18 saves to earn the win.
First-year
Samantha Scobee (Minnetrista, Minn.) stopped 33 shots for the Nor'easters, who return to action Nov. 24 at Williams College.
Franklin Pierce will look to make it back-to-back wins Monday (Nov. 19) when its hosts St. Anselm College at 7 p.m.
