UNE concludes season at NEIGA Championship

BREWSTER, Mass. -- The University of New England men's golf team finished 22nd in a field of 35 teams from all divisions at the 78th Annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship on Sunday (Oct. 28), which was shortened to an 18-hole event at the Captains Course due to inclement weather.

UNE's total of 337 on the par-72 Starboard Course was good for 11th among the 21 Division III squads competing in the event.

The University of Massachusetts Darmouth was the lowest Division III team in the field with a score of 312, followed by Husson University (313) and Endicott College (315).

Junior Andy Emery (Winthrop, Maine) led the Nor'easters with a round of 77, while first-year Dan Nadeau (Auburn, Maine) carded an 84. Junior Mat Brown (Charleston, Maine) came in with an 87, and first-year Paul Butkevich (Pomfret Center, Conn.) rounded out the scoring with an 89. First-year Troy Eaton (Amesbury, Mass.) finished with a 91.

Big Blue completed the 2012 campaign with a record of 34-26, and captured the win in the modified-format Colby Classic.
