UNE women's ice hockey opens play in grand style

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- In the first game in the history of the program, the University of New England women's ice hockey team opened strong with a 14-0 victory over the Endicott College club team Friday (Oct. 26) afternoon at the Harold Alfond Forum.

Junior Jenni Poulin (Pembroke, N.H.) scored four goals and assisted on three others to get a hand in half of the Nor'easters' 14 tallies. First-year Marissa Clifford-Biederman (Lee, N.H.) finished with a hat-trick and three assists, while classmate Shannon Reynolds (Belmont, Mass.) added a pair of goals and two assists, as did junior Brianna Kelly (Milton, Mass.).

Big Blue received one goal apiece from first-years Sammy Stocks (York, Maine), Kris McLaughlin (Billerica, Mass.) and Lauryn Huck (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.). First-year Lauren Dupont (Pelham, N.H.) was credited with five assists on the afternoon.

Rookie goaltender Samantha Scobee (Minnetrista, Minn.) had 15 saves to record the shutout for the Nor'easters, who return to action next Friday and Saturday (Nov. 2-3) with a pair of road games at UMass.
