DiClementi helps Pilgrims top UNE in ECAC East game

Box Score

HENNIKER, N.H. -- Brett DiClementi scored twice and added an assist to lead the New England College men's ice hockey team to a 4-0 victory over the University of New England in an ECAC East League contest played Friday evening at Lee Clement Arena.

The Pilgrims (8-5-0) improve to 5-2-0 in league matches with the win, while the Nor'easters (3-7-2) fall back to 1-6-0.

DiClementi pocketed the game's first score 5:39 into the initial period, collecting the rebound off a saved shot by Jacob Andersson and finding the back of the net.

Both DiClementi and Greg Jacques registered assists on Jonathan Boxill's goal midway through the period, making it 2-0 after one.

The hosts out-shot their opponents by a 33-6 margin over the final two frames, tacking on a goal in each to provide the ending difference.

UNE had its best opportunity to get on the board in the third as a pair of NEC penalties gave the Nor'easters 1:01 of 5-on-3 hockey, but the Pilgrims' defense held strong and limited the visitors to two shots on goal during the advantage.

Sebastian Anderson turned aside 16 shots to get the shutout and the win for NEC, which returns to action Saturday when it hosts the University of Southern Maine in at 4:00 p.m.

Big Blue -- which got 40 saves from sophomore netminder Ian Edwards (Linden, Mich.) -- will also play on Saturday, paying a visit to Saint Anselm College for a 4:00 p.m. match-up.
