Box Score

FARMINGTON, Maine -- First-year Erin Bibber (Charlton, Mass.) registered her first goal of the season with 5:49 left to lift the University of New England field hockey team to its 10th straight win to start the season -- a 2-1 victory over University of Maine-Farmington in a non-conference match played Wednesday afternoon at Prescott Field.

The double-digit winning streak marks the longest in program history, surpassing the nine consecutive triumphs achieved during the 2009 campaign.

Bibber's tally came 6:40 after the Beavers (4-3) tied things up at 1-1, when UMF sophomore Kaitlyn Bullen (Farmington, Maine) connected on a pass from classmate Kashley Weymouth (Pittston, Maine) in the 58th minute.

After a scoreless first half that saw UNE come up empty despite an 11-2 shot advantage and an 11-4 cushion in penalty corners, Big Blue converted on its first chance of the second period just 1:22 into the frame. Junior Emily Koehler (Pelham, N.H.) moved in following the insert of a penalty corner and poked home her second marker of the season for a 1-0 lead.

UNE ended by out-shooting its opponent, 16-9, and finished on top of an 18-8 penalty corner margin.

First-year goalie Kaitlyn Warren (Boscawen, N.H.) turned aside seven shots to earn the win for the Nor'easters, who get back to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Saturday with a visit to Gordon College (1 p.m.).

For the Beavers, who travel to Saint Joseph's College the same day for a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) duel, first-year Curran Brierley (East Hampton, N.Y.) posted nine saves.
