CHICOPEE, Mass. -- The University of New England men's cross country team utilized its depth to edge Johnson and Wales University by two points and take the Elms College Blazer Invitational on Saturday morning.
The Nor'easters totaled 35 points to slip past Johnson and Wales, which recorded a team score of 37. Rhode Island College (55) placed third in the seven-team event.
Sophomore Daniel Raboin (Lunenburg, Mass.) was fourth overall for Big Blue, registering an eight-kilometer time of 28:41.
The Nor'easters also placed four other runners in the Top 10 on their way to victory. First-year
Shane Murphy (Glastonbury, Conn.) was sixth at 28:57, sophomore
Geoff Wahome (Lowell, Mass.) seventh at 29:04, and sophomore
Nate DiMartino (Hilton, N.Y.) eighth with a time of 29:26. First-year
Sean Hanrahan (Amston, Conn.) rounded out UNE's scoring competitors, circling the loop in 30:19.
Junior Conor McCloskey of Rhode Island College was the individual champion with a time of 27:49.
The Nor'easters will travel to Wenham, Mass. next Saturday for the Pop Crowell Invitational hosted by Gordon College. Start time for the race is listed at 11:30 a.m.
