Griffin Andrews led the way for Big Blue on Thursday with a personal-best 2-over-par 74

WORCESTER, Mass. -- With career rounds from senior
Griffin Andrews (Rye, N.H.) and sophomore Mathew Brown (Charleston, Maine), the University of New England men's golf team fired a score of 306 to place second at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Invitational, played Thursday at Green Hill Golf Course. Western New England University did just enough to capture the team title, coming in with a total of 305.
The result was the third runner-up showing in four events for the Nor'easters, who were the only squad in the six-team field to have all five players shoot in the 70's.
Andrews and Brown went for 74 and 76, respectively, while senior
Gage Robertson (Freeport, Maine) and sophomores Andrew Emery (Winthrop, Maine) and
Tyler Moody (Augusta, Maine) all carded rounds of 78.
Eric Hedberg paced the Golden Bears to victory with the individual low score of the day -- a one-over-par 73.
Endicott College (311), Nichols College (321), Wentworth Institute of Technology (325), and Roger Williams University (363) rounded out the field.
UNE next competes on Saturday at Waterville Country Club, as part of the Colby College Classic.
