Box Score

BANGOR, Maine -- The University of New England scored three second-half goals, and first-year goalkeeper Kaitlyn Warren (Boscawen, N.H.) finished with a total of 11 saves as the Nor'easters ran their season-opening win streak to five with a 4-2 non-conference field hockey victory over Husson University at the Winkin Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.

After the two teams played to a 1-1 tie in the opening 35 minutes, sophomore Casey Clark (Berlin, N.H.) gave Big Blue a 2-1 advantage 10 minutes into the second frame when she streaked down the right side of the field to notch an unassisted tally.

The hosts struck back three minutes later, converting on a penalty corner goal by sophomore Mariah Arno (Dover-Foxcroft, Maine).

UNE would pull ahead for good less than a minute after Arno's marker on the team-leading fourth goal by senior Bree Tupper (Winthrop, Maine). Tupper scored her second game-winner in as many matches when she took advantage of a quick restart and drilled a shot past Husson rookie goalkeeper Christine McGee (Whitefield, N.H.).

Junior Emily Koehler (Pelham, N.H.) tacked on an insurance goal for the Nor'easters, converting a feed from first-year Morgan Tornovish (Nantucket, Mass.) for her first score of the season.

Warren's 11 saves were a season high, while McGee had seven stops for the Eagles.

Husson jumped out to a 1-0 lead 12:06 into the contest on a short-range goal by senior Kajsa Blindow (Morgan, Vt.).

Big Blue knotted the score with 12:22 remaining in the frame when junior Laura Egounis (Boscawen, N.H.) set-up sophomore Hannah Tavella (Putnam Valley, N.Y.).

For the game, the Eagles led in shots (31-13) and penalty corners (19-6).

The win pushes UNE's record to 5-0 for the first time since 2004. The Nor'easters will look to extend their season-opening win streak to a program-best six matches Wednesday when they travel to Standish to take on Saint Joseph's College in a 3 p.m. start.

Husson (2-1) hosts Bates College that same day at 6 p.m.
