PORTLAND, Maine -- Senior Angel Jarmusz (Powell, Ohio) and first-year Hannah Tavella (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) each scored a pair of second-half goals as the University of New England women's lacrosse team turned a one-goal halftime deficit into a 12-8 non-conference win over the University of Southern Maine at Fitzpatrick Stadium Tuesday afternoon.

Cate added an assist to her four-goal total for a team-high five points. Tavella finished with three markers, and Dvorak had two goals to go with five draw controls. Junior Jenna Barton (Wolfeboro, N.H.) recorded a goal and an assist.

First-year goalie Samantha St. Pierre (Mechanic Falls, Maine) posted nine saves to earn her first career victory, while classmate Amy Pelletier (Brunswick, Maine) put forth a solid effort assisting on the defensive end, causing four turnovers and picking up six ground balls. Both totals were game-highs.

UNE returned with three of its own to regain the advantage (5-4), only to see the next three goals go for the home team. Tavella found the back of the cage with 12 seconds left in the period to reduce the deficit to one (7-6) at the half.

The Nor'easters travel to Salve Regina University on Friday for the opening game of The Commonwealth Coast Confernce (TCCC) schedule. Southern Maine hosts Colby College in a non-conference date next Tuesday (March 15).
