WENHAM, Mass. -- Junior midfielder Jordan Alexander (Portland, Maine) tallied five goals and two assists to help Gordon College pull out a 12-10 victory over the University of New England in The Commonwealth Coast Conference women's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon at the Brigham Athletic Complex.

Classmate Jocie Knaus (Kensington, Conn.) scored both of her markers during a four-goal stretch just before the midway point of the second half that left the Fighting Scots ahead, 10-5.

After an exchange of scores from UNE first-year Hannah Tavella (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) and Alexander, the Nor'easters received back-to-back goals from junior Jessy Dvorak (Windsor, Conn.) to make it 11-8 with 8:34 to play.

Gordon upped the margin to four (12-8), only to see Big Blue first-years Gina Iannazzi (Methuen, Mass.) and Sadie MacLean (Henniker, N.H.) trim the gap to two with 2:00 left in regulation. The Nor'easters could not get any closer before time expired.

Fighting Scots goalie Danielle Maquire recorded 10 saves for the home team, which improves to 4-2 (2-0 TCCC) on the year.

UNE (1-5, 0-3) got a pair of goals and assists each from Tavella and senior Danielle Cate (Boscawen, N.H.). First-year Samantha St. Pierre (Mechanic Falls, Maine) registered 10 stops in goal.

Both squads play again on Saturday. Gordon travels to Curry College, while the Nor'easters host Western New England College (3 p.m.).
