WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- First-year runners Shane Murphy (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Chad Lyons (West Rutland, Vt.) set the pace for the University of New England men's cross country team, as the Nor'easters finished 15th in a field of 44 at the ECAC Championship meet, run Saturday at Greylock High School. With a team score of 44, event host Williams College won for the seventh straight season.

The Ephs had the third, fourth, and fifth-place runners to gain an advantage over Tufts University (77) and Middlebury College (102).

New England College's Antonie Gisore bested the 300-runner field around the 8K course, posting a time of 26:10 to top the nearest competitor by nine seconds.

Murphy (28:00) and Lyons finished just four seconds apart for UNE, in 50th and 55th position individually. Sophomore Daniel Raboin (Lunenburg, Mass.) needed 28:49 to secure the 88th spot in the final order.

Also contributing to the team effort were first-years Geoff Wahome (Lowell, Mass.) and Sean Hanrahan (Amston, Conn.). The Nor'easters close out 2011 next Saturday at the NCAA New England Regional meet, hosted by Bowdoin College.
