Roger Williams takes 11th CCC title in-a-row; UNE 2nd

BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Roger Williams University men's cross country team had four of the top five finishers at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship, run Saturday at Colt State Park, earning its 11th consecutive crown with a team score of 20. The University of New England survived the cold and wet conditions to end up second in the five-team field with a pair of runners earning all-conference accolades and head coach Ron Ouellette being named CCC Coach of the Year.

The Nor'easters (61 points) edged out Western New England University (63) for their second straight runner-up title, after finishing third from 2005 to 2009.

Hawks first-year Kevin Terbush was the individual champion on the 8K course with a time of 27:43 to capture both the CCC Runner and Rookie of the Year awards.

UNE first-year runners Shane Murphy (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Geoff Wahome (Lowell, Mass.) both earned all-CCC honors in the race courtesy of top 10 showings. Murphy in 6th at 28:16, and Wahome in 8th at 28:23.

Ouellette was voted CCC Coach of the Year by his peers, adding to the same distinction he received on the women's side.

First-years Chad Lyons (West Rutland, Vt.) and Sean Hanrahan (Amston, Conn.) were the next to score for the Nor'easters, crossing the finish line at the No. 13 and No. 19 spots with times of 28:31 and 29:12, respectively.

Sophomore Nate DiMartino (Hilton, N.Y.) completed the UNE effort in 20th with a time just two seconds behind Hanrahan.

The Nor'easters compete at the ECAC Championship next Saturday at Williams College.
