Gulls nip Nor'easters in tiebreaker to claim UNE Invite

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine -- Endicott College and University of New England finished Monday at Cape Arundel Golf Club tied at a 298 total, and the Gulls were awarded with the UNE Invitational crown after edging out the Nor'easters based on the scores of the fifth players from each squad (80-81).

Jack Wyman earned the medalist honors on the day by shooting a 1-over-par 70 to lead Endicott, which captured the event for the third straight season. The Gulls reached their team total with a trio of 76's behind Wyman.

Big Blue's score -- the lowest in program history by five -- was headed by a 72 from sophomore Tyler Moody (Augusta, Maine), a 73 from senior Griffin Andrews (Rye, N.H.), and a 75 from sophomore Andrew Emery (Winthrop, Maine). Sophomore Mathew Brown (Charleston, Maine) and senior Gage Robertson (Freeport, Maine) came in with a 78 and 81, respectively.

The University of Southern Maine received a pair of 74's to help settle on a 304 total in third, while a 71 from Jacob Roddy combined with a 73 from Orion Cochrane guided the University of Maine-Farmington (309) to a fourth-place finish.

Saint Joseph's College (337) rounded out the field of five teams, led by Kevin Richardson's round of 72.

UNE ends another very successful campaign with an unofficial record of 30-8-1.
