MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- Sophomore Casey Clark (Bethlehem, N.H.) scored three times as the University of New England set a school record for wins with a 7-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey victory over Salve Regina University in the regular-season finale Saturday afternoon at a rainy and cold Gaudet Field.

The triumph was the 17th of the season for UNE (17-2), surpassing the 16 wins achieved during the 2009 campaign. The Nor'easters end the CCC regular season at 9-1, and will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CCC Championship, which begins on Wednesday. The official release of the tournament pairings will come later in the weekend.

Salve registered its lone goal of the match nearly 12 minutes into the contest, as Lisa Bucci converted a pass from Alexandria Rizzo. The advantage was short-lived, however, as Clark notched her first of the day 3:40 later to even things up. UNE held a 13-6 edge in shots during the opening half, but the score remained 1-1 after 35 minutes.

The second period was all Big Blue, and the visitors got going in the 47th minute when junior Laura Egounis (Boscawen, N.H.) scored on a penalty corner from sophomore Hayley LaPointe (Topsham, Maine) and junior Emily Koehler (Pelham, N.H.).

Senior Michelle Oswald (Jay, Maine) set-up the next two goals in the 53rd and 58th minutes, finding Clark both times. The first helper was the 23rd of Oswald's career, making her the program's all-time leading in assists, passing Taryn Flagg '10.

Clark got another point was an assist on a LaPointe goal at 61:12, and then the Koehler-LaPointe combination found senior Bree Tupper (Winthrop, Maine) for another penalty corner score just 1:03 later.

Oswald netted an unassisted tally inside the final two minutes to conclude the scoring. The two points make her the second player, after Flagg, to reach the 100-point mark in a career.

First-year goalie Kaitlyn Warren (Boscawen, N.H.) turned away six shots for the Nor'easters, who defeated the Seahawks for the fifth time in-a-row.

Murphy McCann stopped 11 shots and allowed four goals in just over 57 minutes for Salve, which ends its season at 5-12 overall (1-9 CCC). Jaclene Fleming entered in relief to make four saves the rest of the way for the hosts, who were out-shot, 32-10.
