BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Sophomore Timothy King (Weymouth, Mass.) scored three times to lead the Saint Anselm College Hawks to a 6-2 victory over the University of New England Nor'easters in an ECAC East men's ice hockey game played Saturday afternoon at Biddeford Arena.
Senior Paul Snell (Groton, Mass.) added a pair of goals for the Hawks, who stand in second place in the league standings with a 6-3 mark (6-3 overall). Sophomore Tucker Mullin (Andover, Mass.) had the other tally for St. Anselm.
Snell got the Hawks into the scoring column with the lone marker of the first at the 18:24 mark.
King tallied two of the visitors' three goals in the second to help the Hawks build a 4-2 advantage.
Mullin scored at 7:02 of the third, then King completed his hat-trick at the 10:37 mark for the final margin of 6-2.
UNE (2-9, 0-7 ECAC) received goals from senior
Jack Nolin (Somersworth, N.H.) and first-year
Sean Sullivan (Worcester, Mass.). Nolin's goal was a beauty, as the senior co-captain swept in a shot after dropping to the ice on his back. Sullivan's goal extended his team-leading point total to 11.
Senior Nick Wheeler (Nashua, N.H.), junior Ryan Holley (Owings, Md.) and first-year Alex Pascal (Blue Bell, Pa.) were each credited with two assists for the Hawks, who outshot UNE 64-25. Rookie goaltender Robert Kang (Glen Rock, N.J.) registered 23 saves to up his record to 4-1.
First-year netminder
Connor Brogan (Hershey, Pa.) was busy all afternoon for the Nor'easters. He stopped 58 shots.
St. A's returns to the ice next Friday with a road game at No. 3 Williams College.
UNE hosts non-conference foe Franklin Pierce University this Wednesday at Biddeford Arena. The puck is slated to drop at 4 p.m.
