CHICOPEE, Mass. -- The University of New England men's cross country team finished with three runners in the Top 10 en route to a second-place finish Saturday at the eight-kilometer Elms College Invitational.
With the first three runners to cross the line, Johnson and Wales University took team honors with an aggregate score of 20. The Nor'easters earned the second slot with a team total of 47, followed by American International College in third (79).
First-year
Brandon Mulligan (Westfield, Mass.) was fourth with a time of 28:17 to lead the Nor'easters. Classmate Nathan DiMartino (Hilton, N.Y.) placed sixth at 29:32, while Daniel Raboin (Lunenberg, Mass.) cracked the Top 10 in 30:20.
Also scoring for Big Blue were junior
Bosco Oringa (Portland, Maine) and senior
Josh Grenier (Otisfield, Maine). Oringa was 12th overall with a time of 30:55, Grenier 15th at 31:38.
Johnson and Wales' senior James Vance bested the field with a time of 27:28.
UNE returns to action next Saturday at the Pop Crowell Invitational hosted by Gordon College.
