CASCO, Maine -- For the second straight outing, the University of New England golf team took home the team title, posting a total score of 320 to win the John Queenan Memorial Tournament, hosted by Saint Joseph's College, by just one stroke. The event was held at Point Sebago Golf Club Tuesday afternoon.
The Nor'easters narrowly edged second-place finisher Husson University, which came in with a 321 total. UMaine Farmington came in third at 327, and the University of Southern Maine was fourth with 328.
Saint Joseph's (335), Emmanuel College (366), Daniel Webster College (384), and UMaine Machias (No Score) rounded out the field.
Husson's Chris Hamel claimed the medalist honors with a three-over-par 75.
For UNE, first-years
Tyler Moody (Augusta, Maine) and Andrew Emery (Winthrop, Maine) tied for the team-low with 78. Junior
Gage Robertson (Freeport, Maine) had an 81, and first-year Mathew Brown (Charleston, Maine) carded an 83. Senior
Griffin Andrews (Rye, N.H.) had an 84.
The Nor'easters take to the links again Sunday and Monday at Sable Oaks Golf Club for the USM Fall Classic.
