BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Eleven players recorded goals as Bates College defeated the University of New England, 19-6, in non-conference women's lacrosse action Monday afternoon at Barbara J. Hazard Field.
The Bobcats, who have won all eight meetings against the Nor'easters, improve to 6-5 on the season. The second straight loss drops UNE to 9-4.
Senior Morgan Maciewicz (Marblehead, Mass.) and sophomore Lindsay Thompson (Ipswich, Mass.) each tallied three goals for Bates, while Maciewicz added a pair of assists. Sophomore Joan O'Neil (Westwood, Mass.) registered two goals and four helpers, and senior Molly Dilworth (Yarmouth, Maine) added two goals and two assists.
First-year Jenn Brallier (Chambersburg, Penn.) and junior Briana Gross (Andover, Mass.) chipped in with two goals apiece for the Bobcats.
Bates had a solid advantage in shots (41-13) and took 17 of 27 draw controls in the contest.

The second half was controlled by Bates, which outscored the hosts, 9-2, to seal the victory.

Danielle Cate (Boscawen, N.H.) led the Nor'easters with two goals, while classmate
Tara Geraghty (Barrington, R.I.) made 14 saves in goal.
Junior netminder Mara Krueger (St. Louis, Mo.) was credited for the win for the Bobcats in just over 37 minutes of action, recording one save.
Bates is scheduled to play Saturday on their home field against Trinity College (Conn.) at 2 pm.
UNE will host Gordon College on Wednesday in a TCCC match-up beginning at 6:30 pm.
