HENNIKER, N.H. -- Junior Danielle Cate (Boscawen, N.H.) found the back of the cage seven times and the University of New England led from start-to-finish in a 14-8 The Commonwealth Coast Conference women's lacrosse victory over New England College at Laurie Cox Memorial Field Saturday afternoon.

The win was the third in-a-row for the Nor'easters (4-1), who move to 3-0 in league play. With their third straight setback, the Pilgrims now stand at 1-3 overall (0-2 TCCC).

Cate got it all started with the first two goals of the contest, on her way to surpassing her previous career-high total of five that she set earlier in the week. The seven goals was one short of the program's single-game mark, held by a pair of former players.

First-year Cara Cole (Norwood, Mass.) added three scores to the UNE cause and picked up a game-high seven ground balls. Junior Angel Jarmusz (Naperville, Ill.) contributed pair of goals, and senior Mallory Long (Lewiston, Maine) had one marker to go with two assists.

Junior netminder Tara Geraghty (Barrington, R.I.) made 10 saves in just over 42 minutes to earn the win.

NEC was led sophomore Amanda Naime (York, Maine) who registered six points on four goals and a pair of helpers, and finished with a game-high five draw controls. Classmate Sam Aucoin (Henniker, N.H.) chipped in with two goals for the offense, while senior Alexandra DiRico (Limerick, Pa.) recorded seven saves in goal.

The Nor'easters jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 11 minutes and had a four-goal cushion (5-1) midway through the period, before settling on a 6-4 halftime edge.

The teams exchanged two-goal swings over the opening 13 minutes of the second frame to make it 8-6. UNE tacked on six of the next seven scores in a nine-minute span to pull away late.

Big Blue returns home to face Curry College under the lights on Tuesday (6:30 p.m.). The Pilgrims take on Nichols College at Southern New Hampshire University Monday evening.
