WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Racing nearly in his backyard, first-year
Brandon Mulligan (Westfield, Mass.) helped lead the University of New England men's cross country team to a ninth-place finish at the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University Saturday at Stanley Park.
Vassar College posted an aggregate score of 75 to win the event handily. Chris Burnett of SUNY-Delhi was the individual champion, completing the eight-kilometer course in a blistering time of 25:40.
Mulligan was 16th overall for the Nor'easters, circling the course in 26:50. Classmate Daniel Raboin (Lunenberg, Mass.) placed 77th, while rookie Nathan DiMartino (Hilton, N.Y.) was 89th. They finished with times of 28:45 and 28:53, respectively.

Josh Grenier (Otisfield, Maine) and junior
Jonathan Dupuis (Groveton, N.H.).
The Nor'easters will compete in the Maine Intercollegiate Championship next Saturday. The event will be hosted by Bowdoin College in Brunswick.
