Endicott takes UNE Golf Invitational; Big Blue second

Gage Robertson carded a season-low 77 to help the Nor'easters to a runner-up showing

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine -- Led by a one-over-par round by medalist Andrew Larocque (Averill Park, N.Y.), Endicott College posted three of the top five scores to finish with a 313 total and win the University of New England Golf Invitational, played Thursday in gusty winds at Dunegrass Country Club.

UNE had a team score of 323 to take second place, while Saint Joseph's College (335) and the University of Southern Maine (340) rounded out the field.

Larocque won the individual title for the second straight year, finishing strong with a back-nine 35. Teammate Jack Wyman (Falmouth, Maine) recorded a 76 to finish second, and UNE's Gage Robertson (Freeport, Maine) came in third with a 77.

The Gulls also got a 78 from DJ Bennett (Madison, Conn.), and their final two players both carded 86.

Tyler Moody (Augusta, Maine) chipped in with a 78 for the Nor'easters, and Griffin Andrews (Rye, N.H.) posted an 82. Mathew Brown (Charleston, Maine) completed Big Blue's scoring with an 86.

The Monks' Kevin Richardson (Coventry, Conn.) registered the sixth sub-80 score of the event with a 78. TJ Garske (Federal Way, Wash.) added an 82, and SJC also used scores of 86 and 89 in its team total.

For the Huskies, Josh Hogan (Falmouth, Maine) led the way with an 81. Chris Petrin (Biddeford, Maine) came in with an 85, and the remaining three players posted scores of 87.

Endicott is at the Bison Invitational Sunday, while UNE, St. Joe's, and USM are all off until next Friday (Oct. 15) when they compete at the Southern Maine Cup.
