WENHAM, Mass. -- The University of New England men's cross country team placed ninth out of 23 teams Saturday morning at the Pop Crowell Invitational hosted by Gordon College.
UNE first-year
Brandon Mulligan (Westfield, Mass.) continued his spectacular rookie season, registering yet another Top 10 performance with an eight-kilometer time of 26:58 to finish ninth.
Fellow rookies Daniel Raboin (Lunenberg, Mass.) and Nathan DiMartino (Hilton, N.Y.) were the second and third runners, respectively, for the Nor'easters. Raboin placed 47th at 28:34, while DiMartino was 77th at 29:15.
Junior
Bosco Oringa (Portland, Maine) and senior
Josh Grenier (Otisfield, Maine) were Big Blue's other scoring runners. Oringa contributed a time of 29:18 to place 79th and Grenier circled the course in 29:26 to grab the 83rd spot.
UNE totaled a team score of 237. Winner University of Southern Maine posted a score of 87 to best Westfield State University by seven points.
The individual champion was Alex Gomes of Salem State University. He boasted a blistering 5:10 pace to finish in 26:10.
The Nor'easters return to competition next Saturday at the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State.
