Brock keys No. 7 Amherst in 4-0 shutout of UNE

AMHERST, Mass -- Junior Joe Brock (Cumming, Ga.) scored a goal and set-up two others to lead the nationally-ranked Amherst College Lord Jeffs to a 4-0 men's ice hockey win over the University of New England Friday evening at Orr Rink.

The No. 7 Lord Jeffs (13-2-2) extended their unbeaten streak to 12 games by limiting the Nor'easters to just nine shots on goal.

The game was scoreless until 15:45 of the first when sophomore Kevin English (West Seneca, N.Y.) tallied his first goal of the season.

Sophomore Eddie Effinger (Belleville, Ill.) made the score 2-0 with just under a minute to play in the second, then Brock and sophomore Mike Baran (Duxbury, Mass.) added third-period goals.

First-year goaltender Nathan Corey (Anchorage, Alaska) upped his record to 3-0 in recording the shutout.

Junior Mike Roper (New Glasgow, Nova Scotia) stopped 35 of 39 shots for the Nor'easters (1-16), who play a road game tomorrow at Hamilton College. The puck is scheduled to drop at 3 p.m.
