BRISTOL, R.I. -- First-year Ashley Kichline (Souderton, Pa.) set three Roger Williams University team records, helping the Hawks to a 189-91 win over the University of New England in women's swimming Saturday afternoon at the RWU Aquatics Center.

Kichline won the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.24) and 200-yard backstroke (2:17.66) in record-setting times, in addition to swimming her backstoke leg (1:03.97) of the 400-yard medley relay faster than she herself had earlier this season. Kichline also finished first in the 50-yard backstoke (31.10) by 1.07 seconds, ahead of UNE first-year Meaghan Arsenault (Methuen, Mass.).

Sophomores Sara Shea (Peabody, Mass.) and Lizzie Wareham (Osterville, Mass.) each won two races on the day for the Nor'easters. Shea took the 50-yard breaststoke (35.13) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:40.21), narrowly beating out RWU first-year Joanna Tchobanova (Brewster, N.Y.) in both.

UNE first-year Rachel Hanley (Wiscasset, Maine) touched the wall third to Shea and Tchobanova in the 50-yard breaststroke, just 0.66 seconds off the pace.

Wareham claimed a pair of freestyle events over RWU first-year Melly Marrington (Farmington, Conn.). She first won the 50 free (25.78) by 0.89 seconds, followed shortly thereafter by a win in the 100 free. Wareham also finished second to Kichline in the 200 free (2:07.23).

Junior Caitlin O'Connor (Wallingford, Conn.) picked up two individual victories in butterfly events for the Hawks (3-3), who visit Gordon College on Tuesday. Roger Williams also won both relays and a pair of uncontested diving events.

For UNE (6-4), which hosts Colby-Sawyer College Saturday, senior Alison Leopard (Bloomington, Ill.) put forth a strong effort in the 500-yard freestyle. Her time of 5:44.33 was just over one second off the first-place mark.
