Wareham and Shea lead UNE past UMass Dartmouth

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Sophomores Lizzie Wareham (Osterville, Mass.) and Sara Shea (Peabody, Mass.) combined to win five individual races and were part of the Nor'easters' first-place 200-yard individual medley relay team as the University of New England defeated UMass Dartmouth, 144-118, Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center.

Wareham took three races -- the 50-yard freestyle (26.05), 100-yard freestyle (56.21) and 100-yard butterfly (1:03.97), while Shea took victory in the 100 (1:13.44) and 200-yard (2:39.87) breaststroke. The duo teamed with first-years Meaghan Arseanault (Methuen, Mass.) and Rachel Hanley (Wiscasset, Maine) in the winning 200-yard IM entry.

Arsenault also won the 100-yard backstroke (1:08.52) and partnered with Hanley and sophomores Hannah Lipomi (Enfield, Conn.) and Nori McLeod (Wiscasset, Maine) to capture the 200-yard freestyle relay.

UNE senior Alison Leopard (Bloomington, Ill.) won the 500-yard free with a time of 5:48.85

For the Corsairs, senior Kathleen Foley (Haverhill, Mass.) won a pair of events -- the 200-yard individual medley (2:26.96) and 200-yard butterfly (2:36.63). First-year Maggie Conlon (Methuen, Mass.) was victorious in the 200-yard backstroke (2:25.12), first-year Morgan Cooper (Sunderland, Mass.) the 200-yard free (2:06.50), and sophomore Kim Moore (Billerica, Mass.) the 1000-yard freestyle (11:48.70).

The Nor'easters (2-0) return to action next Saturday when they take part in the Regis College Invitational. The Corsairs (0-2) head to Bridgewater State College on Tuesday.
