SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine -- Sophomores Brian Moskevich (Buxton, Maine) and Dan Chadwick (Gorham, Maine) paired up to fire an even par round of 70 and lead the University of Southern Maine to victory at the Southern Maine Cup, held Friday at Sable Oaks Golf Club.
The event was a break from the standard collegiate golf format, featuring two-man teams playing six holes of three different formats: best ball, scramble, and alternate shot.
The Huskies finished with a team total of 221, good for a 10-shot win over UMaine Farmington (231).
The University of New England placed third with a team score of 236, while Saint Joseph's College rounded out the field with 242.

Nathan Fairfield (Bath, Maine) and junior
Steve Dillon (Sanford, Maine) had the round of the day going through 14 holes, but a triple bogey on hole #15 and quadruple bogey on hole #18 during the alternate shot stretch left the duo with a 77.
Junior
Griffin Andrews (Rye, N.H.) and first-year
Zack Champagne (Saco, Maine) combined for a 79, and the Nor'easters received a score of 80 from the team of sophomore
Gage Robertson (Freeport, Maine) and first-year
Ryne Lubert (Yorba Linda, Calif.).
UNE is off until October 22 when it travels to Manchester, Mass. to play Essex County Club in the The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Invitational.
