BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England Nor'easters pounded out 19 hits on their way to a 10-2, 8-0 sweep of Regis College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference softball action Tuesday afternoon at Claude Dubois Field. Both games were shortened to six innings due to the eight-run rule.
The Nor'easters broke open a 2-2 game in the opener with six runs--all coming after two were out--in the bottom of the third. Winning pitcher Sarah Hamel '08 (Rochester, N.H.) delivered a three-run triple to right, Lisa Baillargeon '08 (Berlin, N.H.) produced a pair of runs with a double, and the other run came home on a wild pitch.

Morin, Baillargeon, Julie Monteiro '10 (Portsmouth, R.I.) and Ashley DePasquale '09 (Uxbridge, Mass.) each had two hits to spark UNE's 11-hit attack. Hamel battled her control all game, issuing five walks and three wild pitches. She allowed just one earned run, though, and fanned four to raise her record to 7-4.
In game two Jess Silvio '09 (Beverly, Mass.) and Amber Zablowsky '11 (Rochester, Mass.) hurled a combined shutout for the second straight day. Zablowsky pitched one-hit ball over four innings of relief to run her mark to 6-4. Cortney Coles '08 (Wareham, Mass.) doubled to right-center in the fourth for the Pride's lone hit of the contest.

The Nor'easters (13-9, 9-5 TCCC) will put their four-game win streak on the line tomorrow when they face Nichols College in a doubleheader starting at 3:30 p.m.
The Pride (9-14, 4-10) are off until Friday when they play Roger Williams University at Wellesley College.
